Raymond is a founder of Corvil and co-inventor of its core technology. He started his career as a research assistant under Prof. John Lewis in the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS). There he worked with John and Fergal Toomey (Principal Scientist with Corvil) in pioneering the measurement of the Large Deviation properties of packet-switched network traffic.
In 1997, Raymond completed his Ph.D. thesis on the transformation of stochastic processes under random time-changes, and took up a part-time Assistant Professorship in DIAS. He used the rest of his time to work with Lewis and Toomey on the foundations of Corvil, which he joined full-time in 2000.
