Synopsis

4-5 years Java software development experience with a minimum of 2 years Java web application GUI development experience, utilising one or more of the following technologies:

  • Java, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax, server-side frameworks (Tapestry, GWT, Struts, RoR, JSF, Spring and Hibernate) and/or client side frameworks (Prototype, Yahoo UI etc.)

Corvil is an exciting and dynamic startup with an innovative one-of-a-kind Latency Management System (LMS) product. We are a small highly motivated and skilled team and are looking for the right person to fill a vacancy in our Frontend Development Group.

Role

This role entails the design, development and test of new features and components for Corvil’s Latency Management System product CorvilNet. In collaboration with a group of highly skilled developers you will produce high quality code within tightly managed deadlines. As a developer with proven skills in software engineering you will be expected to provide supporting test frameworks, configuration tools and documentation.

Required Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Java and client-side and server-side web application frameworks and technologies.
  • Good knowledge of the concepts of user-interface design, UI components and human-computer interaction techniques.
  • Experience with at least one Java application server.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with users, team members and management.
  • Capable of thinking about problems from first principles.
  • Experience with complex designs using abstractions, modularizations, best practice design patterns, and designing reusable system architectures.
  • Aware of need for standards and high quality.
  • Used to meeting strict deadlines, whilst producing quality work.
  • Knowledge of developing/debugging and scripting (python) Linux environments.
  • Third Level Computer Science or Engineering Degree.

Experience in some or all of the following is a distinct advantage

  • Technologies: Java, HTML/DHTML, CSS, Ajax, JavaScript, PDF, XML.
  • JDBC and SQL with Postgres or similar databases.
  • SNMP, MIB and network management.
  • Knowledge of Ant/JUnit/EasyMock frameworks.
  • Experience of database design.
  • Familiarity with database performance/tuning issues.
  • Experience with C and/or C++.
  • IP Networking and Quality of Service (QoS), Cisco IOS and MQC.
