Raymond Russell – CTO & Co-Founder

Raymond Russell – CTO & Co-Founder

Raymond is a founder of Corvil and co-inventor of its core technology. He started his career as a research assistant under Prof. John Lewis in the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS). There he worked with John and Fergal Toomey (Principal Scientist with Corvil) in pioneering the measurement of the Large Deviation properties of packet-switched network traffic.

In 1997, Raymond completed his Ph.D. thesis on the transformation of stochastic processes under random time-changes, and took up a part-time Assistant Professorship in DIAS. He used the rest of his time to work with Lewis and Toomey on the foundations of Corvil, which he joined full-time in 2000. He used a central result of his thesis to apply the original form of the technology to IP networks.

Since 2000, Raymond has played an instrumental role in building a strong company and product suite around the core Corvil technology, covering many areas such as network science, product management, technical sales, and field engineering.

As Chief Technology Officer, Raymond is focused on driving continued advancement and fulfillment of Corvil’s innovations with a focus on applications and infrastructure in capital market. Recently, Raymond has led intensive investigations into latency issues impacting proprietary trading firm applications and utilized this experience to improve Corvil’s product offering.
